Silent Sermons

Today, God was really speaking to me and I wanted to share with you the message. As many of you know, I struggled with anxiety after Cannon was born. Luckily, I have been anxiety free for several months and so I have decided to decrease my anxiety medicine. Today is my second day decreasing my medicine and of course I was so nervous about it. Luckily, it was a great day. I spent time with one of my friends and we went shopping at Hobby Lobby and ate lunch at Panera.

When we got home I cleaned my house and made supper. My husband was working late so I decided to watch some preaching online, I always Youtube Steven Furtick and watch his sermons. Today, I randomly (or so I thought) chose a sermon called "Silent Sermons". I selected it because Cannon was crying and I didn't have time to really search for one that would apply to me.

As I was rocking Cannon in my rocking chair he was so fussy because he was really fighting sleep. I knew the Devil was trying to interrupt the message God was trying to deliver. I laid him on the floor in front of the TV and we looked at each other face to face. My back to the TV. As I watched Cannon drift off, I was listening to the message on TV. The message, that I randomly picked, was about the silent message that is being played in your head. He went on to say that the Devil has "favorite sermons" that he likes to play in your head. These sermons play on loop. I call these negative thought loops, and I am notorious for them. His favorite sermons for me are "You are a bad mom", "You will never be able to do this",  "You are not good enough","You need these pills, and if you get off the anxiety will rebound." This message was chosen by God for me today. He knew I needed to hear it.

I encourage those of you who are struggling with the negative thought loop, to watch this sermon. I promise it will speak to your heart. God is enough, His grace his enough, His word is enough. Steven preached that instead of allowing this negative thought loop to replay day after day, we need to change the channel. To do this, we need to get in the habit of speaking God's word. The Gospel gives you a new thought loop. That really resonated with me. Today is the last day I will allow the Devil to play sermons in my head.

"My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
