Year One…Done!
9:08 AM
Ok Friends! It has been a long time since I have written on this blog. The truth is as my position switched from a teacher into administration I found it hard to think about what to write. After talking with my old team mate, Monica from The Schroeder Page, I thought it was time to get back to the blog.
A lot of things have change in the last year: I started at a new school, finished my Ed.D and completed my first year as an AP! The number one question I get from bloggers is which do you like better: being and AP or being a teacher? I have to be honest- it is hard work being a teacher! I have such admiration for teachers. The stress that I put on myself each day to make sure each child was making growth was overwhelming. It kept me up at night. Don't get me wrong I still put a lot of stress on myself to ensure that my school is performing but I don't carry the weight alone. Luckily I have an amazing group of educators at my school who remind me that we are all working toward the same goal.
My first year as an AP was great! Anyone who knows me knows that I hate change and I cry with each new job. I am so happy to say I did not cry. I remember the first day in my office. I felt overwhelmed. I had just left the classroom- I was not finished with my MSA and I had little understanding about what an AP even did. After I decorated my office I just stared around my office trying to predict what the first few weeks of school would include. What I did not anticipate is that open house is much busier as an AP. I was responsible for ensuring that every bus rider had a route and that their parents knew the correct a.m. and p.m. pick up/drop off times. I am excited to have a second shot at open house this year because I learned a lot from my mistakes last year. Just like being a teacher, each year you learn a little bit more and over time you learn what works and what doesn't.
I am so thrilled to be going into my second year as an AP. My personal goals for this year as an administrator are: distributive leadership, being a better listener and conveying to my teachers how amazing I truly think they are. I am so blessed to work with some of the greatest people in BC and I want them to know I have their back and we are in it together.
Wish me luck!

Back To School Fashion
9:02 AM
Ok, I know I'm not a fashion blogger, but I can't help it. I love clothes! Every year I always do a post on Back to School fashion so here is one for this year.
This year, I have had the hardest time finding some outfits to start the school year with. BTS shopping is one of the perks of being a teacher :) But after searching all my favorite stores, Loft, JCrew, Ann Taylor etc. the place that had the best pants and shirts was Express. They also had a great deal, $25 off every $75 you spend. If you are looking for new school clothes this is the place to be.
I also found these heels for super cheap! They were on the coach website for $235. But I bought the same pair yesterday at Dillards for $99...score!
And how cute are these..only $20 at New York & Company!!!!

Classroom Decorations and more!
6:43 PM
Oh gosh I have been so busy decorating my room lately and by the looks of everyone's Instagram photo's I'm not the only one. Today, I went and looked at fabric with my mom to create some banners , but I totally got side tracked and instead ended up buying Halloween fabric. What? How in the world... and why? Halloween? Really? I can't answer it myself.
Anyway, on the way home tonight I got an email from the State Network of Educators saying I was selected to help design a digital library to provide educators with resources, tools and professional learning based on the Common Core. The best part about this is I get to review and contribute to the assessments my state will be using! I am curious to see if anyone else is working with their State Leadership Team this year or if you have in the past. If so, I would love to hear from you.
Then, to top off an already fabulous day, when I got home, I opened my mailbox and found a postcard from Free Spirit Publishing . This is the company I used to purchases my teacher's guide and student book for teaching leadership in the classroom. Can you believe they read my blog! I feel a little Rockstarish...is that a word?

Library Setup- Black and Neon
4:10 PM
Well today I decided to head back to my classroom and get everything setup. I am SO glad I did. The school was so quite. I was able to completely reorganize my room in less than three hours. My big focus this year as always is reorganizing my library. I can't help it but the reading geek in me always shifts back to the classroom library. Today I ordered almost 30 bins from Really Good Stuff based on what I saw in this post. I ordered the neon colors below.
I really want to decorate my room in black and neon.I don't think I can make it work but after looking at Ladybugsteacherfiles post it is very tempting.

I am going to order these cute library labels for my classroom this week. If you are into this theme you will have to visit Ladybug's Teacher Files.

And how cute are these!!! OMGEEE
