This delightful story encourages children to identify and reflect on their decision making skills. Stephie McCumbee encourages children to assess how their choices and actions may affect themselves and others. Readers are provided with concrete reasons and solutions for empowering themselves as socially accountable citizens. This book is great for educators and parents of elementary students!

Stephie McCumbee has a knack for teaching important lessons through her clever classroom tales, and Spacing Out has proved her prowess once again. As an educator, I love how this book explores the topic of off-task behaviors and daydreaming in such a student-friendly way. It teaches an important lesson without being too didactic or preachy…and infuses a little dash of whimsy! The plentiful space references are a witty way to frame discussions about completing classroom ‘missions’ and open the door to increased student ownership!
