Public Service Announcement
1:37 PM
*Educators feel free to copy and repost the message below on your blog, Twitter or Facebook*
Dear Parents,
This week many of you will soon receive your Back to School letter introducing you to your child's teacher for this upcoming school year. I kindly ask that you think twice before asking about their teacher on social media. It might be very hurtful to read online that little Johnny's mom said you were not effective with him last year or that Suzy's mom said you gave too much homework. Every teacher has their strengths and weaknesses and every teacher is doing the absolute best they can. Nothing can ruin a teacher's night like stumbling across a negative post about themselves online. I thank you in advance for getting to know your child's teacher yourself and building your opinions based on your experiences with his or her teacher. Please never discuss your opinions about your child's teacher on a public forum.
Sincerely,
Teachers everywhere

ReplyDeleteToo much homework (not to). Don't want to give "those parents" one more thing to talk about!
ReplyDeleteThank you for putting into words what many of us have been thinking about social media and the school community. Well said!
