Reader's Workshop (Daily Five and Literary Cafe)

At the beginning of Summer I wrote several posts about how to start reader's workshop. I am excited to say that I have figured out a great way to implement both the Daily Five and the Literary Cafe into my literacy block. In my school we are given a 1 hour block to teach literacy, I would love to of had more time but I created a schedule to work around that time allotment that _ thought I would share in case some of you were hopping to add the cafe and Daily Five into your literacy block. If I had more time I would have done one more mini lesson and one more round of Daily Five.

  1. This is similar to what my schedule looked like before it was recently changed on us again. We are told what our literacy block has to look like and we can only do 1 mini-lesson for reading per day, followed by 3 Daily 5 choices. I like how you're covering the essentials a couple of times a week - the kids need it.
