The Wild Christmas Reindeer

My second graders have been learning about reindeer the last few weeks and they love it! My students enjoy non-fiction units of study, and they always look forward to creating a final product. I am still working on an idea for our final reindeer product, so if you have any ideas I;d love to hear them.

The first week we did a non-fiction unit on reindeer and we read Remarkable Reindeer wich is a really great book. The second week we did a fiction unit on reindeer and we read The Wild Christmas Reindeer. To download a copy of some of the sheets I created click on the link below.

  1. I just read something cool on Swamp Frogs site...she found a uTube video of the book!
I left this comment there:"I have always loved this book for a less than obvious reason...I think all teachers who become frustrated and loose their patience should be required to read it...It's all about KINDNESS and LOVE..verses FEAR and INTIMADATION."

  2. Thanks for sharing! I also teach 2nd grade and I know my kids will enjoy this! We have been working on non-fiction this six weeks and maybe will try to pull in some reindeer texts to tie this all together. Thanks for sharing!
